El Carnicero

Without a doubt one of the best restaurants for eating good meat in the Vicenza area, excellent quality cuts, honest prices and a very good wine list. The environment is classic but refined, the staff is young and approachable, just be careful to book with the right amount of notice! Recommended both for a reunion with friends and for a dinner as a couple!

I thought for a long time whether to write this review or not... Anyway, starting from the reservation we call and they tell us that they have the last free table, good! Then while we were having dinner, 10 people arrived without reservations and they all sat down, ok haha! When it comes to food and service the real pain begins... Starting from my STEAK and I write it in capital letters, seeing as it cost around €130! Angus Prime Quality USA ribeye, I order it and I am not asked how I wanted it cooked (absurd), but I am told that the ribeye weighs approximately 1.4kg, ok at that price but you should take it out and show it to me, to see the maturation, roughly the weight, the marbling and fat (I'll come back to the fat later), obviously nothing here too...The steak arrives, beautiful to look at, the taste less so. Nothing exceptional in flavour, on par with a normal rib, medium cooked (if I had wanted it cooked further back?), absolutely not tender, so much so that chewing requires its own reason. At the end of the plate I do the counting, I will have eaten about €60 of meat, the rest is bone (and we know it) but more uneatable fat than actual meat, I point this out to the waitress who goes into the kitchen, comes back and tells me she says they told her that's the peculiarity of that cow! So the peculiarity would be that the dog tastes a piece of the rest of the steak? Even if that were the case (and it isn't!), they had brought it out to me when I ordered it, I would have seen it as fat and probably changed the rib-eye (even paying less)... The waitress tells me that next time I have to try the fillet, that's good and lean (thanks to the ca" if I wanted the fillet I stayed at home and bought it)… Not even the desserts end up sweet, after ordering 3 desserts one arrives (mine) the other two lost who knows where, we ask where they are and the response is "aah why did you order too?" ...that is, come on...Moral of the story the only really good thing is the osso buco, the rest is a total failure (in the hope that it was the restaurant's NO day)... The fact remains that almost €130 of ribeye + another €50 of osso buco and dessert, for come away disappointed with annoyance, with that money you dine in a starred restaurant and leave something in your pocket... Too bad.

Restaurant that I recommend to try for meat 🍖. We went for a company dinner and I must say it was a great discovery. They gave us the room with a single table so it was fantastic without having other customers around. In addition to the menu, they recommend the "dishes of the day". We had a tartare starter followed by a tasting of 3 types of meat (recommended course for 3 people).
